April 2010, Hilton The Hague will open its doors. Situated at the Zeestraat it will instantly be one of the most luxurious hotels of the royal city. Until the doors open, much construction still needs to be done. And staff has to be recruited. On November 28th there will be a job pitch for everybody who is interested in working parttime or fulltime at Hilton The Hague.
Winkelman en van Hessen consultancy asked GBE to design and build a website within 7 days for this job pitch. On November 4th press releases were sent out. This meant that we had to step on it. Fortunately, at GBE we can rely on partners who are used to this kind of deadline.
Fritiof Eriksson and Kahlil Berenos started with the design. The website is aimed at men and women in the age category between 20 and 40 years old. The corporate identity of Hilton must not be violated so we designed a traditional look-and-feel with a modern twist. There are no photographs of the hotel yet so we used a stock image of a made up bed in a luxury room. As the homepage opens the image is split into two parts. The lower part opens up and the most important information is shown. Instead of a left and top menu we chose to show three different menus. Two in the middle and one at the bottom.
The button ‘job pitch’ shows the staff jobs for which candidates can apply on November 28th. A jury will qualify the candidate’s performance and he or she could be immediately eligible for a contract.
Hilton and Winkelman en van Hessen were very pleased with our design so we continued to fill in the blanks. Once more, GBE proves that designing and building a website is not a matter of time but a matter of good preparation. The website was built by Mikel Buissink of Interactief Diensten.
